PAC Directing Actors Masterclass PERFORMER SPOTS TAKEN

The Backlot and PAC Workshops are proud to present a BEN YOUNG MASTER CLASS

• DIRECTING ACTORS – Up your screen skills
A unique opportunity for experienced Actors to work one-on-one with award-winning film and television writer/director and exec producer Ben Young (Hounds of Love, Run, The Artful Dodger) in a mock screen-test environment. Actors will perform original scenes written by Ben, receive tailored feedback, and receive a copy of their takes. There will also be time to join the wider discussion and ask questions about the audition/screen-test process and Ben’s experience as a working filmmaker over the past 20+ years. Twelve performers will be selected from experienced actors who apply to have the chance to extend their skills acting and auditioning for screen roles receiving re-directions from Ben and feedback to enhance their professional development.
Writers and directors are also invited to observe, take part in feedback, and ask questions about Ben’s process as they see it in practice. Viewing the performances on Backlot’s cinema screen provides a unique chance to see what works.

• ABOUT BEN YOUNG
Ben Young is an award-winning writer and director whose work spans film and television across Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Hulu, Stan, and Foxtel. He completed a BA at Curtin University in 2003 and an MA at the WA Screen Academy in 2005. His debut feature Hounds of Love premiered at the Venice Film Festival, followed by Extinction for Netflix and Devil’s Peak, starring Billy Bob Thornton and Robin Wright. He has since directed major international series including Clickbait, The Wilds, The Twelve, The Artful Dodger, and Run where he also serves as executive producer. ONLY 12 SPOTS AVAILABLE FOR PERFORMERS. Entry for Performers (Actors) is by application with a deposit of $50 which will be refunded if not selected. Applicants may be asked to submit a showreel or self-tape. If selected masterclass fee is $270 +GST= $297

LIMITED PLACES FOR OBSERVERS (Actors/Writer/Directors)can enrol to learn from Ben’s 20+ years of industry experience. No need to submit showreel for this. Masterclass fee for Observers is $170 +GST=$187

Preference will be given to PAC Advanced Studio members.
